ATLANTA – The Cobb Galleria Centre is proud to host the traveling exhibition ATLANTA: Beyond Bricks & Sticks, March 2 through April 13 in the Center Court of the Galleria Specialty Shops, inside Cobb Galleria Centre.

In celebration of Atlanta’s diverse mix of certified green building projects, the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) presents ATLANTA: Beyond Bricks & Sticks, an exhibition that is traveling to some of Atlanta’s high-profile venues throughout 2010. Spotlighting many of the metro area’s outstanding design examples, MODA’s ATLANTA: Beyond Bricks & Sticks tells the stories of the people who live, work, learn and play in the city’s sustainable structures. Exhibit components include an interactive Atlanta Green Map, a “What is Your Carbon Footprint?” quiz, video interviews, an intimate look at student life at DeKalb County’s LEED Silver Certified Arabia Mountain High School and many other features that explain and celebrate green living.

“We are honored to be chosen by MODA as one of a select few locations in metro Atlanta to host this innovative exhibit,” said Michele Swann, General Manager and CEO of the Cobb Galleria Centre and Galleria Specialty Shops. “The exhibit is complementary to our own sustainability initiatives that include a continuous effort to reduce the use of water, energy and solid waste throughout our properties.”

The groundbreaking ATLANTA: Beyond Bricks & Sticks engages and educates viewers with real time information and interactive touch screens to explain just what it means to be “green.” Curation of the exhibition includes a broad spectrum of buildings reflective of the metro area’s commercial and residential projects along with large-scale developments that incorporate environmental features. All of the exhibit’s projects either meet the US Green Building Council’s LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) green building rating system or the Southeast’s EarthCraft House certification program. The exhibit has been thoughtfully designed with sustainable materials to fit the theme while allowing for the challenges of traveling to the various settings.

ATLANTA: Beyond Bricks & Sticks will continue traveling through the end of 2010. The remaining schedule will be announced in the coming months.

ATLANTA: Beyond Bricks & Sticks is generously sponsored by Kendeda Fund and The Coca-Cola Foundation. MODA supporters include Fulton County Arts Council, Atlanta Cultural Affairs and Georgia Council for the Arts. Additional support is provided by Fletcher Martin, Eola Capital, LLC, Corporate Environments, Iconologic and the Structor Group.

Cobb Galleria Centre is located in the beautifully landscaped 88-acre Galleria complex in prestigious northwest Atlanta.
