THANK YOU FOR HELPING COBB GALLERIA CENTRE
ACHIEVE ITS 12TH CONSECUTIVE YEAR
OF PROFITABILITY
|
|
For the 12th consecutive year, the Cobb Galleria Centre has achieved
financial success. For the fiscal year that ended September 30, 2006,
the Centre produced a total of 1,129 events with attendance of 497,431.
Overall revenues were 18% ahead of budget, and 2006 marked the
Centre’s most favorable year ever for its self-operated food and
beverage outlets. Hotel/Motel Tax collections were also 18.6% ahead of
budget.
“Cobb Galleria Centre continues to be successful because of the
careful planning and thoughtful stewardship of the Cobb-Marietta
Coliseum and Exhibit Hall Authority and our business partners,” said
Michele Swann, General Manager and CEO of Cobb Galleria Centre. “Our
achievements would not be possible without our loyal clients and our
exceptional employees who serve them.”
The impact of Cobb Galleria Centre’s financial success is far
reaching. Based on an independent economic impact study performed by
KPMG, Cobb Galleria Centre created 1,480 jobs in 2006 and generated
more than $128 million in overall economic impact for Cobb County and
the State of Georgia.

|
Cobb
Energy Performing Arts Centre is pleased to announce that the Centre’s
large-screen, state-of- the-art marquee will officially bear the name
Gas South, in recognition of Cobb Energy Centre’s latest sponsorship
partner, Gas South, LLC.
As part of the naming rights agreement, Gas South has pledged $2 million in support of the Centre’s capital campaign.
The Cobb Energy Centre also recently opened its Interior Design
Gallery to offer a preview of the facility’s décor and design elements.
Rich, warm and contemporary are the textures, colors and interior
design elements of Cobb Energy Centre. Examples of the Murano glass
chandeliers, the John A. Williams Theatre seats, and appointments of
the Theatre’s private boxes are among the displays offering a foretaste
of the facility’s striking interior. The Gallery is located in the

| FESTIVE DÉCOR MAKES HOLIDAY PARTIES A HIT |
|
|
|
The Cobb Galleria Centre has re-invested in its holiday decor. With
consistent color and design throughout, we really decked the halls for
the 2006 holiday season. From the lampposts decorated with attractive
garland to a beautiful new holiday design in the rotunda and a stunning
14-foot tree in the concourse, the Centre created a festive display for
all of our holiday parties.
The Centre changed the look of the exhibit hall for the 2006 holiday
season as well. Party guests were greeted with a beautifully lit
entrance of swags and wreaths, along with snowflakes and holiday lights
overhead.
It’s not too early to reserve a date for your 2007 holiday party. Contact a catering sales manager at 770-955-8000 or events@cobbgalleria.com.

| STAFF MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: ARTHUR MCDOWELL |
|
When
you attend an event at Cobb Galleria Centre, the room is always set
perfectly to the needs of your group. But how did it get that way? A
lot of the reason is Set-Up Manager Arthur McDowell.
None of us give too much thought into how much planning, time and
effort it takes to set-up all the tables, chairs and staging for a 7
a.m. event, especially after an event in the same room runs until
midnight the night before. McDowell supervises a crew of 10 who are
responsible for making those tight, sometimes all-night, “turns” seem
effortless. And with 23 years of experience in set-up, McDowell knows
his craft like the back of his hand.
“We pride ourselves on excellence,” McDowell said. “We want to be the No. 1 set-up department anywhere, period.”
Thirteen years of McDowell’s career have been spent at the Cobb
Galleria Centre. He has worked in the same position since the launch of
the facility, and he has the second-longest tenure of any employee. “I
like the satisfaction of knowing that I did the job right,” he said. “I
pride myself on excellence. I know this building like the back of my
hand.”
McDowell, a Marietta resident, has a 15-year-old son and a 13-year-old daughter.

CUMBERLAND MALL OPENS NEW RESTAURANTS
AND STREETSCAPE; OFFICE DEVELOPMENT
ON THE RISE |
|
|
|
The renovated Cumberland Mall is now open for business. With an
additional 77,000 square feet of space, featuring a pedestrian-friendly
streetscape and an open-air plaza, Cumberland Mall opened its doors
just before Thanksgiving.
Additions to Cumberland Mall’s offerings include Costco, Chico’s and
Soma, as well as Maggiano’s Little Italy, P.F. Chang’s China Bistro,
The Cheesecake Factory, Ted’s Montana Grill (opening in January) and
Stoney River Legendary Steaks. Valet parking also has been added to the
mall’s front streetscape.
The mall’s makeover as well as the construction of the Cobb Energy
Performing Arts Centre have helped spark $100 million in office
building purchases in the Cumberland-Galleria area and sent land prices
over $2 million an acre, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle.

GALLERIA SPECIALTY MALL CELEBRATES THE SPIRIT
OF THE SEASON WITH AN ART CONTEST FOR ALL AGES
|
|
|
|
The Galleria Specialty Mall, located in the center court of Cobb
Galleria Centre, found the perfect illustrations to deck the walls
during the fourth annual Spirit of the Season Art Contest. Cobb County
students of all ages created their own masterpieces depicting the
meaning of the holiday season. The artwork was on display in the
mall Dec. 6-31. Pictured are some of the award winners during a
reception for all students and their families on Dec. 6.

| EVENT SPOTLIGHT: THE HOME & DESIGN SHOW |
 |
 |
 |
|
A new home and design show is coming to the Cobb Galleria Centre
March 30 – April 1. The Home and Design Show, produced by dmg world
media, will include elements focusing on lifestyles and design. The
show will feature designer rooms, new products, a 21st century cabin,
an outdoor kitchen, food and wine trends, and more.
“The goal of the show is to get people passionate about their home
and showcase all of the red-hot ideas for design,” Show Manager JoAnn
Vereen said. “We’re emphasizing good design and living the good life.”
According to Vereen, dmg decided to produce this first-time event at
Cobb Galleria Centre not only to fill a void in the spring home show
market in Cobb County, but also because of all of the improvements
being made to the area.
“Everything’s happening at the Galleria,” she said. “It’s the place
where everyone wants to come. It’s the place where business happens.”
